Thank you for your interest in visiting the orchard!
We hope that students who visit the orchard have a positive, fun, and interesting experience. We want each visitor to come away with an increased appreciation for fresh apples, and for what is involved in the process of growing and harvesting them.
What we can provide:
Groups are greeted by Brien Davis, Owner, or by a farm employee. There is a short walk and talk in which students are invited to see the apple sorter and cider press. Picking practices are reviewed, followed by time spent picking apples in the orchard. Students will receive a certificate that entitles them to a discount price on apples if they return to pick on another day with a family member. Usually the complete visit takes no more than an hour.
What we need from the school leaders:
Our website is linked to an excellent, short instructional video about how to pick apples. We suggest that you view this with your students before coming. In order to provide adequate supervision, we request that you provide one adult for every four children who come to the orchard.
We are providing a short instructional video about how to pick apples below. We suggest that you view this with your students before coming.
Apples can be purchased in one of two ways:
- We can provide each participant with a quarter peck bag that can be filled for $3.50 Payment is provided by cash or by one check.
- Each person can bring their own bag, and pay individually, by the pound at the usual Pick- Your-Own rate of $1.10/#. Checks or cash are welcome.
If you would like to combine your visit with other local activities, consider the list of activities on our website homepage. In the case of rain, or a change in plans, please contact us as soon as possible.
Thank you for your interest in the orchard,
Emily and Brien Davis
